Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 30 September 2026

These Software Licence Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the purchase and use of software licences for RQuest (“RQuest”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), including RQuest Free, RQuest Pro, RQuest Pro Bundle, and related RQuest software and services available through rquest.in.

By purchasing, downloading, installing, activating, or using RQuest software, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not purchase, install, activate, or use the licensed software.

RQuest is a software product licensed to you, not sold to you. Your purchase gives you the right to use the applicable version of RQuest according to the licence purchased.

1. RQuest Software

RQuest is a research workspace designed to help users organise sources, read and annotate documents, develop research notes and evidence, connect ideas, create research artefacts, write manuscripts, and prepare presentations.

RQuest may be distributed in different editions and products, including:

  • RQuest Free
  • RQuest Pro
  • RQuest Pro Bundle
  • RQuest Companion Mobile App
  • RQuest Web Vault Manager
  • Other editions or products introduced in the future

The features available to you depend on the product and licence purchased.

2. Licence Grant

When you purchase a valid RQuest licence, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the applicable RQuest software for the duration and number of users or devices permitted by your licence.

The licence does not transfer ownership of the RQuest software to you.

You do not acquire any ownership rights in:

  • RQuest software.
  • RQuest source code.
  • RQuest user interface and design.
  • RQuest trademarks and branding.
  • RQuest documentation.
  • RQuest proprietary technology.
  • Future versions or updates.

All rights not expressly granted under these Terms are reserved by RQuest.

3. Personal and Commercial Use

Unless the product page or licence specifically states otherwise, a RQuest licence may be used for personal, academic, research, educational, or professional purposes by the licensed user.

A licence may not be shared between multiple people unless the purchased licence expressly permits multiple users or seats.

For organisational or institutional use, the applicable number of seats must be purchased.

4. RQuest Pro Licence

A RQuest Pro licence provides access to the features included in RQuest Pro for the applicable licence period or licence model.

RQuest Pro may include features such as:

  • Research source management.
  • PDF reading and annotation.
  • Research notes.
  • Claims and evidence.
  • Research synthesis.
  • Diagrams and mind maps.
  • Research artefacts.
  • Manuscript development.
  • Presentation development.
  • AI-assisted research workflows.
  • LaTeX workflows.
  • Typst workflows.
  • Other features included in the purchased version.

Feature availability may change between software versions.

5. RQuest Pro Bundle

RQuest Pro Bundle may include:

  • RQuest Pro Desktop.
  • RQuest Companion Mobile App.
  • RQuest Web Vault Manager.

The components of the bundle may have different functionality.

The mobile application and Web Vault Manager are companion products and do not necessarily provide all functionality available in RQuest Pro Desktop.

In particular, LaTeX and Typst compilation is currently available through RQuest Pro Desktop and is not guaranteed to be available through the mobile or web applications.

6. Licence Seats

Unless otherwise specified on the applicable product page, a RQuest Pro licence includes two seats.

A seat represents one authorised user or installation entitlement according to the applicable licensing model.

Additional seats may be purchased where offered by RQuest.

You must not use a licence to provide access to more users than the number of seats purchased.

For organisational or institutional licences, the licence administrator is responsible for assigning and managing authorised users.

7. Device Activation

RQuest may use licence activation and device identification to verify that your installation is associated with a valid licence.

Activation may require:

  • A RQuest account.
  • A licence key or purchase entitlement.
  • Device information.
  • Internet connectivity.

We may limit the number of active devices or installations according to the purchased licence.

You must not attempt to bypass, disable, manipulate, or circumvent RQuest’s activation or licensing mechanisms.

Where RQuest provides a mechanism to deactivate a device, you may use that mechanism to transfer your licence to another permitted device.

8. Licence Key

A licence key, activation code, or other licence credential is provided for the purchaser or authorised users.

You must keep your licence credentials secure.

You must not:

  • Sell your licence key separately.
  • Publish your licence key.
  • Distribute your licence key publicly.
  • Share your licence key with unauthorised users.
  • Circumvent seat limitations.
  • Attempt to generate fraudulent licence keys.
  • Modify or manipulate activation information.

If we reasonably determine that a licence key has been obtained or used fraudulently, we may suspend or revoke the affected licence.

9. Licence Term

The duration of your licence depends on the product purchased.

The applicable product page, checkout page, invoice, or licence information will specify whether the licence is:

  • Perpetual.
  • Subscription-based.
  • Valid for a specified period.
  • Subject to another defined licence term.

A perpetual licence permits use of the licensed version for an indefinite period, subject to these Terms. It does not necessarily provide unlimited access to future major versions, cloud services, or future products.

A subscription licence remains valid only while the applicable subscription is active.

10. Software Updates

RQuest may provide:

  • Bug fixes.
  • Security updates.
  • Compatibility updates.
  • Performance improvements.
  • Feature updates.
  • New versions.

The availability of updates depends on the applicable licence and product.

We do not guarantee that every future feature or major version will be provided to every existing licence holder.

We may introduce new products or major versions that require a separate purchase or upgrade.

11. Purchase and Payment

RQuest software licences may be purchased through the RQuest website or an authorised payment provider.

You agree to provide accurate information when purchasing a licence.

Prices displayed at the time of purchase apply to that transaction unless otherwise stated.

Applicable taxes, including GST or other legally applicable taxes, may be charged.

Payment processing may be handled by a third-party payment provider. RQuest may therefore not receive or store complete payment-card information.

12. Digital Products and Delivery

RQuest licences are digital products.

After a successful purchase, you may receive one or more of the following:

  • Download access.
  • Licence key.
  • Activation entitlement.
  • Account entitlement.
  • Software download link.
  • Access to associated services.

You are responsible for downloading, installing, and maintaining the software on a supported device.

13. Refunds and Cancellation

RQuest software licence purchases are non-refundable.

Because RQuest licences provide immediate access to downloadable software, licence keys, activation entitlements, or digital functionality, purchases are considered final once the licence has been issued or activated.

We do not ordinarily provide refunds for:

  • Change of mind.
  • Failure to use the software.
  • Failure to download the software.
  • Failure to install the software.
  • Purchasing the wrong product.
  • Purchasing a licence for an unsupported operating system.
  • Duplicate purchases made by the customer.
  • Unused licence time.
  • Failure to review product requirements before purchase.

However, nothing in this section is intended to exclude or restrict any mandatory consumer rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

Indian e-commerce rules apply to digital products and require applicable e-commerce entities to comply with consumer-protection obligations. (Consumer Affairs)

If you believe that a purchase was made fraudulently, was charged incorrectly, or that the purchased product was materially different from what was represented at the time of purchase, contact us at support.rquest@gmail.com.

14. Software Requirements

Before purchasing RQuest Pro, you are responsible for checking the supported:

  • Operating system.
  • Operating-system version.
  • Hardware requirements.
  • Architecture requirements.
  • Available storage.
  • Other technical requirements.

Purchasing a licence does not guarantee that RQuest will operate on hardware or operating systems that are not officially supported.

15. Your Research Data

Your research content remains yours.

RQuest does not acquire ownership of your:

  • Notes.
  • Research documents.
  • PDFs.
  • Annotations.
  • References.
  • Claims.
  • Evidence.
  • Images.
  • Diagrams.
  • Equations.
  • Tables.
  • Manuscripts.
  • Presentations.
  • Other content that you create or import.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to use any material imported into RQuest.

16. Local Data and Backups

RQuest may store research data locally on your computer.

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important research data.

We are not responsible for loss of locally stored data caused by:

  • Hardware failure.
  • Accidental deletion.
  • Operating-system failure.
  • File-system corruption.
  • Malware.
  • User error.
  • Storage-device failure.
  • Failure to maintain backups.

If RQuest provides synchronisation or cloud functionality, that functionality should not automatically be treated as your sole backup.

17. Cloud and Companion Services

Some RQuest products may provide online functionality, including:

  • Account management.
  • Licence management.
  • Synchronisation.
  • Web Vault Manager.
  • Cloud storage.
  • Mobile access.
  • AI functionality.
  • Other online services.

These services may require an internet connection and may be subject to separate availability and usage limitations.

A desktop software licence does not necessarily guarantee perpetual availability of every online service.

18. AI Features

RQuest may include AI-powered features.

AI-generated content is provided as an assistive tool and may contain errors, omissions, incorrect interpretations, or unsupported claims.

You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated output before using it in:

  • Academic work.
  • Research publications.
  • Manuscripts.
  • Presentations.
  • Professional work.
  • Other consequential activities.

RQuest does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated output.

19. Academic and Research Responsibility

RQuest is a research productivity tool.

You remain responsible for:

  • Maintaining academic integrity.
  • Correctly attributing sources.

  • Complying with journal and publisher requirements.
  • Ensuring that submitted research accurately represents your work.

RQuest does not guarantee publication, academic acceptance, research correctness, originality, or any particular research outcome.

20. Permitted Use

You may use RQuest only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You must not:

  • Reverse engineer RQuest.
  • Decompile or disassemble RQuest.
  • Modify the software to bypass licensing.
  • Circumvent activation.
  • Remove copyright or proprietary notices.
  • Redistribute paid versions without permission.
  • Resell a licence without authorisation.
  • Share a licence beyond its permitted seats.
  • Attempt to obtain unauthorised access to RQuest services.
  • Interfere with RQuest infrastructure.
  • Introduce malware or malicious code.
  • Use RQuest to violate another person’s rights.
  • Use RQuest for unlawful activities.

21. Reverse Engineering

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, decode, or otherwise attempt to obtain the source code of RQuest, except to the extent that such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

You must not use reverse engineering for the purpose of circumventing licensing, activation, security, or other technical restrictions.

22. Intellectual Property

RQuest and all associated intellectual property remain the property of RQuest or its respective licensors.

This includes:

  • Software.
  • Source code.
  • Object code.
  • User interface.
  • Graphics.
  • Logos.
  • Trademarks.
  • Documentation.
  • Website content.
  • Product designs.
  • Proprietary technology.

Your purchase of a licence does not transfer ownership of any of these materials to you.

23. Third-Party Components

RQuest may include third-party libraries, frameworks, components, or services.

Certain third-party components may be distributed under their own licence terms.

Where applicable, third-party licence notices will be provided with the relevant software.

Your use of third-party services may also be subject to the third party’s terms and policies.

24. Availability of Services

We aim to maintain reliable RQuest software and services, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Services may be temporarily unavailable because of:

  • Maintenance.
  • Software updates.
  • Infrastructure failures.
  • Security incidents.
  • Network problems.
  • Third-party service failures.
  • Events beyond our reasonable control.

25. Termination and Licence Revocation

Your licence may be terminated or revoked if you materially violate these Terms.

Examples include:

  • Licence fraud.
  • Unauthorised redistribution.
  • Licence-key sharing.
  • Circumvention of activation.
  • Exceeding purchased seat limits.
  • Serious abuse of RQuest services.
  • Other material violations of these Terms.

If a licence is terminated because of your material breach, you must stop using the affected software and remove it from devices where required.

Termination does not affect rights or obligations that are intended to survive termination.

26. Warranty Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RQuest is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that:

  • The software will be completely error-free.
  • Every feature will work on every system.
  • The software will satisfy every particular research requirement.
  • AI-generated output will always be accurate.
  • Online services will always be available.
  • Software will remain compatible with every future operating-system version.
  • Research data will never be lost or corrupted.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty or statutory right that cannot legally be excluded.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited under applicable law.

Your use of RQuest is also subject to the RQuest Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains how personal information may be collected, processed, stored, and used in connection with RQuest products and services.

We may update these Terms when necessary to reflect changes to:

  • RQuest products.
  • Licensing models.
  • Payment arrangements.
  • Services.
  • Security practices.
  • Applicable laws.
  • Business operations.

The latest version will be published on the RQuest website with an updated effective date.

Continued use of RQuest after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

30. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, subject to applicable mandatory consumer-protection and other statutory rights.

Electronic acceptance of these Terms may form part of the agreement between you and RQuest. India’s Information Technology Act, 2000 recognises contracts formed through electronic records under Section 10A. (MeitY)

31. Dispute Resolution

If you have a problem relating to your RQuest licence or purchase, please contact us first:

We will make reasonable efforts to resolve the matter through direct communication.

The affected provision will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally permitted.

33. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the applicable product description, licence information, purchase terms, and RQuest Privacy Policy, constitute the agreement governing your use of the applicable RQuest software.
